Camden Catholic is saddened to announce that Denise Croce Neri, class of 1967, and legendary actress and musical theater director, passed away on April 9, 2024. As a student, Denise left an indelible mark on the Camden Catholic stage, performing as Guenevere in Camelot and as Elsa in The Sound of Music. As an alumna, she returned to take over the theater program from 2006 to 2014, directing hundreds of students who recall their years with her as formative experiences. Camden Catholic sends our prayers and sympathies to Denise's family and her many friends, especially her sons Jason '92, Justin '95 and Josh '96. https://www.legacy.com/us/obituaries/name/denise-neri-obituary?id=54849012#obituary

On this Good Friday we remember the ultimate sacrifice of suffering and we pray: Soul of Christ, sanctify me. Body of Christ, save me. Blood of Christ, inebriate me. Water from the side of Christ, wash me. Passion of Christ, strengthen me. O good Jesus, hear me. Within your wounds conceal me. Do not permit me to be parted from you. From the evil foe protect me. At the hour of my death call me. And bid me come to you, to praise you with all your saints for ever and ever. Amen.

The annual CCHS Canada trip arrived in Montreal on Wednesday after an overnight bus ride. For the first day, students were able to overlook the city of Montreal from Mount Royal as the city was awakening. They visited St. Joseph's Oratory, the largest shrine to St. Joseph in the world. The students had the privilege of attending Mass in the crypt and later toured the Basilica, an architectural gem! They then toured Old Montreal learning about its history from tour guide, Monsieur Chuck. The group is now in Quebec City, where they enjoyed a delicious dinner in a trendy neighborhood followed by a visit to Martello Tower, number two, where the students took part in an interactive activity learning about the lives of British soldiers defending the tower during the war of 1812.

Camden Catholic celebrates Black History Month by highlighting the accomplishments of Black Alumni who are and who have made a difference in the world! First up is one of our most recent graduates, Anyah Griffin '23, who was an incredible student leader during her time at CCHS, and continues to thrive at college. She is currently a freshman at Hampton University and is involved in many campus activities, in addition to working towards her degree in strategic communications. She shares "I've had the pleasure of meeting remarkable individuals and attending enlightening talks by Vice President Kamala Harris and actress Taraji P. Henson. My schedule has been bustling with activity, as I've become involved in various organizations such as the Hampton Script, where I serve as a PR and Media Specialist, and as a member of the National Association of Black Journalists here at Hampton. Additionally, I've joined the Hampton arts organization, HBCU Canvas, and am participating in the school's Generation Action program."
