SMP Society Feminine Drive: 97 boxes of feminine care items were delivered from CCHS to the Camden County Domestic Violence Center this week thanks to the donations from our school community.
The inaugural CCHS Genetics & Biotechnology class has reached their ultimate lab for the 22-23 academic year: PCR (Polymerase Chain Reaction.) PCR is the most widely used technique in genetics and molecular biology. Among its many uses is the screening of mutations involved in genetic disorders. Students extracted DNA, executed PCR using a thermocycler, and then performed electrophoresis enabling them to view the PCR results. This multi-day lab is one which you will rarely find in a high school science department. Thanks to the generosity of the Mirmanesh family, who has helped to fund this course in memory of Fr. Joseph Capella, Mrs. Knowlton is leading the class through the cycles of PCR.
CCHS students attended the annual Afternoon of Jazz, Plus fundraiser held April 23 at Auletto Caterers in Almonesson to thank supporters for helping to fund the Black Cathjolic Ministry Scholarship. Now in its 31st year, the event benefits the Commission's Scholarship Fund, which awards monies to eighth-grade students entering Catholic high schools within the Diocese. May is National Arthritis Awareness Month and CCHS junior Kaitlyn Wagner is organizing donations for the Rheumatology Department at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. Items will be given to children that visit the Rheumatology Clinic for

Congratulations to Averi LaPata '24 who was honored with the Widener University Leadership Award which includes acceptance into the Apogee Leadership Scholars Program. Widener Apogee Scholars receive a $20,000 scholarship over four years, and access to four years of leadership programming, including a Widener Leadership Certificate. This award is given to students who have demonstrated leadership by standing up for what is right, finding a way to address a wrong, or making a significant difference in their schools or communities. The CCHS Shakespeare Festival on April 26 was a great success with over 30 students participating and many more faculty, staff and students attending to watch the performances. On April 25 Campus Ministry was a proud shop vendor at the 5th Annual Cathedral Kitchen Operation Mothers & Fathers Day shopping event. Jack Baylouny and Caroline O'Callaghan were honored as Camden Catholic's 2023 Olympic Conference Scholar-Athletes on Tuesday. Both seniors are among the top-ranked students in the graduating class, all the while also leading on the field, mat, and court. Jack is a key member of both the wrestling and lacrosse teams while Carly is a three-sport athlete for the Irish, playing soccer, basketball and lacrosse. Jack plans to attend Clemson University and Carly will attend Syracuse University. Congratulations Jack and Carly!

Did you know...America's first documented Baby Boomer is CCHS graduate Kathleen Casey-Kirschling '64! Mrs. Casey-Kirschling has been featured in various media outlets and was included in the recently published book: The Last Days of the Baby Boom and the Future of Power in America. She was kind enough to hand deliver the book to us for the Hocker Information Commons with a personal inscription.
Bishop Dennis Sullivan has appointed Mr. Rory J. Sweeney as the next president of Camden Catholic High School, effective July 1, 2023. Mr. Sweeney brings strong leadership qualities and a reputation as a distinguished Catholic educator and administrator as the new President of Camden Catholic. He is a man of deep faith who will serve as an excellent role model for the Camden Catholic traditions of Honor, Faith, and Loyalty.
