cole hanna commended scholar

Congratulations to Camden Catholic senior Cole Hanna who was named a 2027 National Merit Commended Scholar. Over 1.2 million juniors in about 20,000 high schools entered the 2027 National Merit Scholarship Program by taking the 2025 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT®), which served as an initial screen of program entrants. An estimated 34,000 Commended Students throughout the country are being recognized for their exceptional academic promise.

Although these students will not continue in the 2027 competition for National Merit Scholarship awards, these Commended Student recipients placed among the top students who entered the competition.

“Those being named Commended Students have demonstrated outstanding potential for academic success,” a National Merit Scholarship Corporation spokesperson stated. ”These students represent a valuable national resource; recognizing their accomplishments, as well as the key role their schools play in their academic development, is vital to the advancement of education excellence in our nation,” the spokesperson continued. “We hope that this recognition will help broaden their educational opportunities and encourage them as they continue their pursuit of academic success.’
