On the 25th anniversary of the terrorist attacks of 9/11/01, the McAuley Chapter of the National Honor Society at Camden Catholic High School, presented an educational and memorial service to honor first responders, pray for the thousands of lives which were lost and share first hand accounts of that day and the weeks, months and years that followed and were impacted by the events of 9/11.

Technical Sergeant (Ret.) Raymond Mejiasis a retired United States Air Force medic who dedicated more than 20 years of service to both the U.S. Air Force and the New York City Police Department. Following the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks, he spent several months at Ground Zero helping secure the perimeter and support the recovery effort during one of the most challenging periods in our nation's history.
Lieutenant Colonel (Ret.) Barbara McCormick-Mejias served for more than 30 years as a nurse in the United States Air Force. Following the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001, she was deployed to Afghanistan in support of military operations and the care of service members during the Global War on Terror.
Father Robert Pinnisi served 20 years with the New York City Police Department and after the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks assisted with identifying the remains of those involved in the initial incident. In 2018 he was ordained a priest in the diocese of Metuchen.
Today's assembly allowed our student body to gather in remembrance and reflection to learn more about what happened that day, and to honor all who came forward as heros in the face of these tragic events.
