ESPN reporter

On November 28, 2023 CCHS was honored to host accomplished on-air NBA reporter, Dave McMenamin from ESPN to visit our communications and technology classes. A local native, Mr. McMenamin hails from Radnor, attended Syracuse, and  began his career as a NBA reporter for ESPN in 2009, working as a beat writer and television analyst primarily covering the Los Angeles Lakers and Cleveland Cavaliers.  CCHS faculty member Mr. Joe Nawn and Mr. McMenamin's father, Jack, "have been friends for many years," says Mr. Nawn. We are so grateful to Mr. Nawn for arranging this visit.

Students were able to hear how Mr. McMenamin found his path to on-air reporting and authorship. His current work centers around the career of LeBron James, which the students were able to hear about how he covers one of the world's top athletes and celebrities. 

Mr. McMenamin began his career covering the league in 2005 for NBA.com. He played basketball collegiately at the University of Limerick in Ireland and graduated from Syracuse University, where he was a student manager for the 2003 national championship team with Carmelo Anthony. The Philadelphia native is an avid sneaker collector and New York Times bestselling author for the book, “Return of the King: LeBron James, the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Greatest Comeback in NBA History,” co-authored with Brian Windhorst. He has contributed to several ESPN platforms including NBA TodayESPN the MagazineThe Hoop Collective PodcastSportsCenterOutside the Lines and more.
