Athletics
Required Documents for CCHS Student-Athletes
Approximately 62% of Camden Catholic students participate in athletics, which is an essential element of the balanced college preparatory curriculum that enriches the body, mind, and spirit. A continued commitment to team sports aids in the cultivation of invaluable characteristics, such as discipline, dedication, collaboration, and sportsmanship. Furthermore, the ability to work within a team towards a common goal is paramount for a collective educational experience.
Home of the Irish, Camden Catholic is a member of the highly competitive Olympic Conference, which encompasses public and private high schools located in Burlington, Camden, and Gloucester counties. Our entire athletics program consists of 11 boys’ sports and 11 girls’ sports, the majority of which offer Junior Varsity and Freshman levels.
Collectively as an athletics program, the Irish have won 119 Conference Championships, 60 South Jersey Titles and 33 State Championships, with the most State Championships in wrestling at 16 titles. Each year we have student-athletes go on to play a sport in college at the Division I, II, and III levels with great success.
Most importantly, our coaches genuinely care about our student-athletes as people and are chiefly concerned about the maturation of our students as a whole, not simply as an athlete. They instill and develop within our student-athletes essential interpersonal tools, such as leadership and communication skills. These qualities will be critical throughout their Camden Catholic, collegiate, and professional careers.
Catholic Athletes for Christ
Camden Catholic High School is a proud participant in the Catholic Athletes for Christ program. CAC’s goal is to provide an integrated network of sports-oriented clergy and lay people to serve Catholic athletes, coaches, and staff in the practice of their faith. They guide student-athletes in how to utilize the unique platform given to them to reach the world for Jesus Christ and His Church. Participation in such a group allows our student-athletes, coaches, and parents a resource from which to grow their faith through participation in athletics.
