<< Back "FebruHAIRY" Fundraiser Benefits Fire Fighters Families
There are even websites now devoted to them, like www.beards.org. Getting on the bandwagon – while helping out the family of a deceased Pennsauken firefighter – are approximately 25 junior and senior boys and five faculty members at Camden Catholic High School, Cherry Hill who have been growing beards and getting pledges during the month of “FebruHAIRY.” The fundraiser will help out the scholarship fund for the family of the late George S. Figueroa Sr. of the Pennsauken Fire Department, whose two children, current senior Elizabeth and sophomore Regina, are students at Camden Catholic. Tony Saranchak, chaplain for the Pennsauken Fire Department, was on hand to accept the donation for the family of six. To date, nearly $3,000 has been raised for the charity. Prizes were awarded for 1) best beard, 2) best try for a beard, and 3) most money raised.
Teacher Chris Ehrmann was the moderator for the event.
