On Friday, September 15, 2017, Camden Catholic dedicated the renovated Library, now known as the Hocker Information Commons and the Monsignor Bob McDermott ’60 Collaborative Learning Center, with the blessing of Bishop Dennis Sullivan, Diocese of Camden. Among more than 80 special guests, Camden Catholic President Mary Whipkey thanked the Diocese for their support, and the many donors who have contributed to the project.
Following Bishop Sullivan’s blessing, Mrs. Whipkey introduced Kirsten Hocker, President of the Hocker Foundation, John M. Tedeschi, MD ’56, and Jerry Campbell ’56 and Monsignor Andrew Martin, President Emeritus to speak on behalf of Monsignor McDermott. The Fulton Bank of New Jersey and the Camden Catholic Parents Association were also recognized for their contributions to the renovated space. Former librarian Pat Brown ’66 was also in attendance as a new sign was unveiled at the CCHS Archives named in her honor.
Camden Catholic has spent more four years raising $6.2 Million during their Campaign for the Future, which has funded this new library space, a new dining hall, scholarships and enhancement of their annual fund.
